Standard and extended licences
What each licence covers, and when you need the bigger one.
Every image offers two licences.
Standard
Covers web, social, print and client work. This is the right licence for the large majority of jobs: a website, a campaign, a deck, a brochure, a client's brand work.
Extended
Adds resale, merchandise and unlimited distribution. You need this when the image is part of what is being sold rather than what is advertising it — a t-shirt, a book cover, a template, an app you distribute, packaging.
Both licences
- Are one-off payments, not subscriptions.
- Never expire and cover work you have already published.
- Do not require you to credit the photographer, though they appreciate it.
- Are worldwide.
If you are not sure which you need, the test is simple: would someone be paying for the thing because of the picture? If yes, take the extended licence.
